Dr Liv Gatfield
Research and Community Engagement Manager
An accomplished academic, researcher, therapist and educator, Liv joined Autism CRC in early 2015. As the Research and Community Engagement Manager, she works across Autism CRC’s Research Office and the Sylvia Rodger Academy initiative, which delivers nationwide programs aimed at empowering autistic adults.
With degrees in psychology, human services and education, Liv has worked closely with people on the autism spectrum through her research, training and teaching for over 20 years.
Prior to joining Autism CRC, she worked extensively with autistic children and individuals with intellectual disabilities in therapeutic and educative roles. She also held a number of teaching and research positions at Griffith University, contributing to a variety of studies on topics including early supports, and strategies for at-risk students.
In 2015, Liv earned her PhD from the University of Queensland’s School of Psychology.
An advocate for co-produced research, she strongly believes collaboration between researchers and individuals on the spectrum is central to empowering the autistic community.
“I’m proud to be a part of an organisation that focuses on quality of life and opportunity for autistic people across the lifespan. It is a privilege to work with a team of autistic individuals in both the Sylvia Rodger Academy and the Research Office – ensuring that what we do and how we do it is appropriate and relevant for the autistic community.”
